Steps and Resources For Creating Personalized Training and Employment Plans Using A Team Approach

Step: Align training to core competencies.  Show how competencies will be met and certifications obtained with a compressed and/or open entry/exit program.

​It is important to ensure that the core competencies are embedded in the curriculum and clearly articulated by indicating in writing where there is alignment between the curriculum and the competencies. There needs to be formalized coordination/ongoing dialogue between the training providers, the program manager, and the employers to ensure the competencies are utilized across the entire life of the training leading to employment.

Statewide Manufacturing Bridge Curriculum

Step: Establish teams and schedule team reviews. 

Responsible Partner(s):
LWIA/Project Manager

Project manager sets up teams to include project manager, career advisor, employer, postsecondary and adult education partners.

Set a schedule for teams to come together at regular intervals. At minimum each team will need to schedule:

  • Personal Plan Setup Meeting
  • Interim Touch Base Meetings
  • Allow for Identification of and Remediation of Issues
  • Exit Review

Set Up Teams and Create a Personalized Training and Employment Plan (PDF) (Archived Webinar)

​​Step: Complete Career Plan and Expanded Bridge sections of the Personalized Training and Employment Plan (PTEP). 

Responsible Partner(s):
LWIA/Career Advisor

​Career Advisor ensures the elements are completed and completes the required fields in the Step 1 - Career Development section and Step 2 - Training and Transition Plan of the personalized plan (using ATIM Tools).

 

The start/end dates for Steps 1 and 2 will be used to indicate when these two steps are complete. Once both steps are complete, the customer IWDS record will be updated with two services:

  • Career Development/Exploration
  • Create a Personalized Training & Transitional Services Plan.

Both steps/services must be completed before the customer can be enrolled in other services within IWDS.

Step: Complete remainder of the PTEP using a team review approach.

​Team members need to have the appropriate reference materials to:

  • Identify the students current skill level and
  • Match the students with training options that offer multiple career paths in a condensed timeframe.

The career advisor updates the students personalized plan based on the team member feedback. 

Team members, that have been identified as required to approve the plan, use the ATIM Tools to indicate they approve the plan.

Step: Update IWDS with the actual student progress.

​Use the personalized training plan within the ATIM Tools  to facilitate the team and engage each student in real time to attain the goal of accelerated learning.

  • LWIA staff login to ATIM every workday and use it as a productivity tool. Watch the dashboard and check your email for issues. 
  • Teams proactively log into their ATIM dashboard any time to:
    • Monitor and facilitate progress.
    • Share comments with the team (students do not see the comments).
    • Click to set “off track” as soon as an issue arises.
    • Check for off track and plan date alerts.
  • Regularly communicate with students about the ATIM program by referencing their plan.
  • Consistently have students log into their account to constantly review their plan.
  • Actively participate with your team meetings.
  • Check your emails and watch for “off track status” to come in or alerts because planned dates have passed without completing a planned activity, course, or other types of components.
  • Take action to ensure each student’s success!
